Walter's Rhubarb
This succulent and vigorous rhubarb comes with a story. The seed was harvested from a patch planted decades ago by my friend's grandfather, Walter Hellyer- in her words, it was his "pride and joy." Cleverly planted as a border along the side of the barn, the patch is fed by the rain water falling off the roof. Every year my friend repeats the steps of stewardship her family has been doing for generations, and the patch gets even stronger.
In 2024, we collected seeds and I scattered some in my garden at home- a few weeks later, rhubarb was popping up everywhere! Now you can grow Walter's prize rhubarb in your garden too.
Grown organically with love and tenderness in the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada, in the summer of 2024. Germination tested September 2024. Minimum 30 seeds.
