Sunset Runner Beans

These fabulous beans are just like Scarlet Runner Beans in all ways but one: they produce beautiful peachy pink flowers (as opposed to scarlet flowers). Plants can grow over ten feet in good conditions and produce fat pods with big purple and black beans inside. Allow the pods to dry on the plant until you can hear the beans rattling inside; now it's time to harvest.

Runner beans are more versatile in the kitchen than one might think. They can be cooked and used just like normal beans for dishes like baked beans or beans and rice. But given their size, they can also be substituted for chickpeas in blended dishes like hummus or chutney. 

Grown organically with love and tenderness in the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada, in the summer of 2024. Germination tested December 2024. Minimum 20 beans.
