Lipstick Peppers, Capsicum anuum, are a thick-fleshed, heatless pepper with a deep rose-red colour when ripe. Botanically they are a pimento, but taste like a flavourful, crunchy bell pepper. They are considered a cool-tolerant pepper variety that can produce even in regions with a short summer. Plants are compact and tend to fork into two or three branches early in development.

It is tricky for beginner gardeners to produce a significant yield of sweet peppers in a cool/short season climate, but don't be discouraged. Start peppers indoors at least 4 weeks before the last frost with grow lights. Use patience when hardening; pepper plants cannot tolerate below 10 degrees celsius. Remove all flowers until the pepper has adjusted to transplanting. Ensure peppers are growing in full sun and nutrient-rich soil. Plants will perform best if provided row covering and staking.

Grown organically with love and tenderness in the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada, in the summer of 2023. Germination tested. Quantity, 30 seeds.
