Grandmother Pole Beans

This productive pole bean offers rose-coloured dried beans, though the pods can also be eaten fresh when small and tender. They can grow to over 10 feet if given adequate support. Plant these beans two weeks after the last frost in full sun.

Franken Farm started a lineage of these beans three years ago after getting a package from Quebecois seed company Terre Promise (www.terrepromise.ca). In their description of these beans, they tell the story of how they travelled from Switzerland to France to Quebec over the past decades. Franken Farm is excited to begin breeding an Ontario cousin and thankful to the other seed savers along the way.

Grown organically with love and tenderness in the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada, in the summer of 2022. Germination tested December 2023. Minimum 30 beans.
