Golden Flax

Golden flax is both a nutritious seed and a beautiful, delicate blue flower. You can grow it as an ornamental flower, a food crop, or both.

If you would like to harvest your own flax, keep an eye on the plants as they form hundreds of dry, spherical seed heads. Break open pods regularly to observe the maturing flax. When the seeds are hard and shiny, it's time to separate the seed and remove the chaff. There are a number of ways to do this so it's a great opportunity to try your hand at techniques like threshing and winnowing. All you need is a paper bag, a wooden bowl, and a sieve.

Grown organically with love and tenderness in the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada, in the summer of 2023. Germination tested. Minimum 50 seeds.
