Feuerwerk Tomato

Feuerwerk is a meaty heirloom beefsteak; tomatoes are bright red with orange and yellow stripes and speckling. They offer a deliciously old-fashioned depth of flavour, perfect raw or cooked. This variety ripens early and keeps producing- it has shown excellent disease resistance late in the season in my own garden. This semi-determinate tomato will do best if staked and trimmed to 2-3 leaders.

"Feuerwerk" means firework in German, and many English sources list Germany as the origin of this tomato. After some digging through German seed websites, I have concluded this variety actually originates from Russia. Seeds were brought to Germany a few decades ago by a single family and the variety then took off in popularity.

Grown organically with love and tenderness in the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada, in the summer of 2024. Germination tested December 2024. Minimum 30 seeds.
