This low-lying variety of nasturtium produces stunning crimson flowers and performs extremely well in baskets and containers. If planted in spring, they will produce multiple blooms right up until the first frost. Nasturtium is an edible flower, adding a burst of peppery colour to your summer salads. Young leaves are also edible, with a much more mild flavour than the blossoms. In fact, even the seed pods are edible if harvested at the correct point in their maturity!

Growing Hints:

  • Nasturtium seeds have a tough outer coating that needs to be broken for germination to occur. Try nicking your seeds with a nail clipper or rubbing them with sand paper to break the seed coat and allow moisture in. This is called "scarifying" the seeds!
  • Start nasturtium indoors for an early start- but not too early! Try planting about 3 weeks before you would like to move them outdoors.
  • I like a ground cover in my garden, and nasturtium fits the bill nicely. I plant seedlings in between tall crops like indeterminate tomatoes; within a few months, I have a beautiful green ground that keeps in heat and moisure & supports healthy insect life.

Grown organically with love and tenderness in the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada, in the summer of 2024. Germination tested March 2025. Minimum 20 seeds.
