Biquinho Pepper
Also known as Little Beak peppers, these teardrop shaped peppers pack a punch of fruity flavour with mild heat. Though the plants are small (about 1 to 2 feet tall), they produce an abundance of peppers. Can be eaten fresh, frozen, or dried. Open pollinated.
TIPS
- This is a great choice for container gardens as the root network of these peppers is small, just like the plant. I had great success growing in 1 foot deep, 9 inch wide containers.
- Peppers are extremely sensitive to cold nights; putting them out too early can result in them going dormant for a few weeks as they adjust, losing valuable growth and flowering time. Keep your pepper seedlings indoors or covered until is always above 15 degrees as night. Be sure to harden them over the course of a few days. This will make all the difference in the timing and size of your harvest.
- Try storing peppers in olive oil for a gourmet addition to charcuterie boards.
