This heirloom variety produces massive red paste tomatoes. Tomatoes are meaty and verging on seedless. This plant is semi-determinate; in my experience it grows best with staking/trellising and minimal pruning. Tomatoes are of variable size, sometimes reaching "prize-winning" weights. As with most paste tomatoes it has excellent disease resistance. Excellent candidate for canners!

I have found conflicting reports about the origin of this tomato, with some sources stating it is Italian, others Polish. Hill Farm Nursery includes the speculated Italian Canadian heritage in their description on their amazing tomato archives: https://hillfarmnursery.com/tomato-long-list-1991-to-2013/

I improved this line for two generations before selling to ensure seedlings had the germination and vigor I expect from the seeds I offer.

Grown organically with love and tenderness in the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada, in the summer of 2025. Germination tested December 2025. Minimum 25 seeds.
